In her new position, Lanza will be responsible for developing and managing AstroPay’s relationships with global banking and payment service providers.
Founded in 2009, AstroPay functions as a digital wallet for millions of consumers who wish to make payments on international sites without a bank account. Lanza moves into the role having previously served as Chief Corporate Development and as a legal advisor when she joined the company in 2018.
In her new position, Lanza will be responsible for developing and managing AstroPay’s relationships with global banking and payment service providers.
Having graduated law school from Universidad de Montevideo, Sofía brings a strong legal background to AstroPay’s banking division, as the company moves forwards with its bold plans for expansion into new markets and verticals. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Cámara Uruguaya de Fintechs, an association that brings together start-ups in order to increase the visibility of Uruguay and its fintech market abroad.

Mikael Lijtenstein previously served as AstroPay’s COO, before being appointed CEO in 2019.
