The Competition Markets Authority (CMA) has confirmed it’s currently investigating Severn Trent’s planned purchase of Andigestion.
Senior Journalist, covering the Credit Strategy and Turnaround, Restructuring & Insolvency News brands.
It’s considering whether the purchase would result in a “substantial lessening” of competition within the UK market.
The deal was proposed back in February, with the business looking to fold the anaerobic digestion firm into its Severn Trent Green Power division. If it goes through, the acquisition will bring an additional 45 gigawatts of energy generation output every year and give Severn Treen Green Power a new reach in the south-west of England – covering regions like Bristol, Gloucester and Exeter.
To assist with its assessment, the CMA is inviting comments on the transaction, in advance of the CMA’s formal investigation, from any interested party – with this invitation closing on 3 July.
