The new Credit 500 for 2020 has been finalised

The new Credit 500 for 2020 has been finalised, ready for its full unveiling at the Credit Week Gala Dinner on March 19.

Share on LinkedInShare on Twitter

The Credit 500 is an index of individuals, collated by Credit Strategy’s Intelligence Unit, who shape strategy, trends, business activity and conduct across consumer and commercial credit.

The individuals who comprise the index perform roles in several vital business areas; prudential and credit risk, collections and recoveries, lending, lobbying and compliance.

In recognition of their stature and to help members build working relationships, benchmark against their peers and share information on best practice, Credit Strategy offers members a series of benefits, which include invites to our events.

"Credit 500 members will receive a host of benefits from Credit Strategy. Across the entire index, these benefits are worth over £2m"

Membership groups

The Credit 500 indexes individuals via a series of membership groups, which relate to factors such as their job role and responsibilities, the sector they operate in and whether they work in a consumer or commercial credit role. The groups are Consumer Credit, Mortgages, Credit Cards, Alternative Lending, Commercial Finance, Car Finance, Utilities & Telecoms, Trade Credit, Influencers and Knowledge & Professional Services.

These groups have been created so that innovators, influencers, business leaders and purveyors of best practice can be recognised among their peers, by being part of a select band. Each year Credit 500 members appear on panels at our flagship conference, the Credit Summit:

Tim Trailor, CCO, Monzo Julia Dunn, CRO, Nationwide

The Credit 500 members above are both in the Consumer Credit group within the index. Every group has its own criteria for inclusion and for the Consumer Credit group, this includes:

  • Ultimate or senior responsibility and oversight for credit risk (with regard to retail banking);
  • Senior or ultimate responsibility for conduct and compliance risk;
  • Influence on the collections and recoveries function, through involvement in setting risk appetite, forbearance policies and arrears treatment;
  • More direct responsibility for collections and recoveries.

Methodology for the Credit 500
There are many elements and people involved in putting together the Credit 500. It starts with the Credit Strategy Intelligence Unit collating information about senior individuals in the credit industry throughout the year.

This information is amassed through interviews, meetings, conference speeches, award-winning entries, press releases on an individual’s activities, conference slide presentations, LinkedIn updates on an individual’s promotion and activities, news articles and direct Q&As with potential members.

Alongside this information, the team receives nominations from individuals across the industry, which detail those individuals’ achievements and influence, which helps to inform and determine their inclusion.

Once each membership group of the Credit 500 is in the final stages of research, directors from major banks, utility firms, telecoms providers and trade bodies are consulted, to ensure the right people make the final cut.

Annual update and unveiling

The full Credit 500 for 2020 will be unveiled at The Credit Week Gala Dinner, featuring The Women in Credit Awards, on March 19, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, Tower Bridge, London. Book your place for the dinner on the Credit Week website.

The index is updated annually, to ensure it remains a current and accurate reflection of the most influential personalities. Those who are entered into the Credit 500 will also be recognised in a Hall of Fame, preserving their recognition.

Credit Strategy’s standard terms and conditions apply to the benefits listed.
