Shard Financial Media has launched the agenda for the first-ever in-person Vulnerability Summit.
Senior Journalist, covering the Credit Strategy and Turnaround, Restructuring & Insolvency News brands.
The multi-brand event aims to address a variety of vulnerabilities ranging from how to support those struggling with gambling to the impact climate has on vulnerability.
Supported by Credit Strategy and sister brands, TRI News, FSE Media, and Reward Strategy, this cross-industry gathering will provide businesses a forum to share expertise on a topic that’s becoming increasingly important for firms to address and manage.
It comes during a time of serious upheaval for customers, with Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation expected to hit nearly eight percent this year, pushing more people into financially vulnerable circumstances. And with this expected to also have a knock-on impact on individuals’ mental health, it has never been more important for businesses to collaborate and formulate the best strategies possible to support those who are struggling - both internally and externally.
Delegates will hear from regulators, government officials, charities, and speakers from multiple sectors - allowing them to gain knowledge and hear best practice examples from individuals they wouldn’t usually connect with.
Taking place on 5 October, this year’s event follows the inaugural Vulnerability Summit that took place as a digital broadcast in May 2021.
Those speaking, sponsoring and attending will be seeking active improvements in support for vulnerable people. Whether this is their customers, employees or supply chains.
Overall, the event will be asking how businesses can support and improve vulnerability within the UK, with clear actions being set during the day. This will then be reviewed at next year’s summit.
In the first session of the day, attendees will be invited to think about what vulnerability has looked like over the decades, with a particular focus on economic and social factors. Additionally, the session will reflect on the impact the cost of living crisis has on vulnerability in the UK.
Following a break, the summit will explore themes such as mental health, the impact social media can have on vulnerable people and how to build and maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce.
The event will play host to three breakout stages, which will investigate if utilising innovation can improve outcomes for vulnerable customers, in what way businesses can bring transparency to the workplace, and how to balance the commercial side of business with vulnerability.
Whether its consumers feeling the full effects of the cost of living crisis or its staff struggling with their mental health post-pandemic, having the strongest vulnerability strategy possible to address and manage this has never been more important. And this summit will provide attendees with the best platform possible to build such a strategy.
