Helen Lumb, Chief Financial Officer, Shire leasing Plc
1. In your opinion, why do you think representation should be more championed in the industry?
A: It is important that for our industry to remain relevant and competitive, that we bring fresh insights, innovation and leadership capabilities into our industry. Diversity in our organisations is an extremely important way to further those aims and by championing representation across our industry encourages not just a new generation to our workplaces but retain and develop our existing workforces.

2. What advice would you give to the next generation of women in the industry?
A: Be bold, be ambitious, be authentic and be yourself
3. In your opinion or experience, please name 1-2 things that can be done by a) individuals b) companies and/or c) society to support the elevation of women in senior positions in the industry?
A: I think role models play an extremely important part of encouraging and developing more women in the workplace. For individuals, senior women in the industry need to be vocal and advocate for the younger generation of women coming through the industry. Companies can encourage this and should look at their cultures, are they encouraging this, are they inclusive and do they support and celebrate women in their organisations.
4. What does allyship mean to you and what advice would you give to those who want to be allies in their industry?
A: I see allyship as a way of connecting with colleagues from possibly underrepresented groups, understanding their situation ie empathising and advocating for them, introducing them to influential people, championing, sponsoring, mentoring etc. Encouraging inclusion.
